After an attack on the Syrian people allegedly caused by the Syrian government, the question that's on everyone's mind is what the US will do about it. Previously, the US has stated that any use of chemical weapons would be met with force. In the eyes of the US, Syria has now crossed the red line. There is currently a group of UN investigators in Syria investigating the chemical attacks. They have been met with opposition as they took sniper fire in their van on the way to the site that was hit with chemical weapons.
It has been days since the chemical weapons attack and Syria and since the UN team was not allowed in until recently, some of the evidence has degraded. Regardless of the UN investigation, the US is prepared to take immediate action. President Obama would prefer to not get that involved in the area and use cruise missiles from the 4 warships currently to hit high priority military targets.
As with any issue, there are biases on both sides of the story. Russia is very concerned with losing its only ally in the Mediterranean. Russia has a vested interest in keeping the current government in power. The Russian President Vladimir Putin has told Prime Minister David Cameron that any attack on Syria would have "catastrophic consequences."
